Share Sunshine || COVID-19 Fundraiser

Hello Dear friends!

I hope you’re having a good Monday. Today is Memorial Day in America and I always have mixed feelings on the situation. I think that some people have a misunderstanding of what today is about. Today isn’t the day to think a living veteran. Today is the day that you say thank you and pay homage to the military men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice. People who served their countries but never came home. So please don’t thank a veteran today… our day comes in November on Veterans Day. Today is for the people that came before me, whose lives were cut short too soon, and are watching us from above. Sorry for the little ramble there. I was watching a live stream earlier and people were thanking veterans and its just a pet peeve of mine.

Today I wanted to share with you some cards that I made using the Share Sunshine PDF that you can purchase from Stampin’ Up! It’s a digital download that costs $12, and all proceeds go towards COVID-19 relief funds! I thought it was pretty cool.

You can watch the 2020 Day of Service video over on Sara’s Facebook page, which is where I got some inspiration from. Last Thursday was Stampin’ Up!’s Day of Service, where a ton of people within the SU company made it a point to make a bunch of cards and send out at least 5 cards. I was a little busy last Thursday, but I made it a point today to sit down and craft with this digital download. I even used the Follow Your Art DSP like Sara recommended in her livestream. It was a perfect way for me to use this paper, because frankly I didn’t have a clue how I wanted to use it up.

I sat down to make these cards with little idea of what I wanted to do. I definitely had to cut out some card bases because I ran out of regular sized cards, and I had to print out and then die cut out the sentiments that I planed on using. Watching Sara’s video really helped give me some inspiration once I saw the DSP that she recommended using.

The point of these cards are all to be incredibly simple. That way it doesn’t take as long to make them and so that you remember to get them out to the people that they are meant for. All of the regular sized cards are A2 side-folding Whisper White card bases with the card fronts being made of 4X5.25” DSP.

These two smaller sentiments just begged to use the Stampin’ Up! notecards.

For the card on the left: I cut out the sentiment using a Stitched Rectangle Die. I then cut down a piece of DSP to 1.25X4.5” and adhered it to the left side of the card. I popped the sentiment panel up on dimensionals before adhering it to the card base. There is a sentiment inside that just says “thinking of you during this quarantine.”

For the card on the right: I cut a piece of DSP down to 2.25X4.25” so I could center it on the card base. I cut the sentiment out using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, also popping it up on dimensionals before adhering its to card.

The top three cards were made with specific people in mind. I’ll be mailing those out tomorrow once I write my message on the inside. I cut the hearts out with the regular heart form the Heart Punch Pack in the 2020 Spring Mini Catalog. The social undistancing sentiment was cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

The bottom two cards were just made focusing on the sentiments and what I thought went best with them. I will say the bottom left card was made using a retired piece of DSP from the Honey Bee paper from Sale-A-Bration. This is a GREAT way to use up all of that DSP that you have lying around (or is that just me…) The sentiment on the left was cut using the Stitched Nested Label Dies and the one on the right was cut using the same heart punch mentioned earlier.

I made a whole bunch of cards because they were just so easy to make and I want to get rid of the DSP. I figured that these would be fun cards for crafters (although the top right one is going to someone I know in the medical field who has been really busy during this pandemic).

I really love these last two! The one on the left is just a bright spot with a simple pattern. Not sure who I am sending this one too just yet.

The one on the right was inspired by one of Sara'’s daughters during the live stream mentioned earlier. She did the same heart background, but I changed things up a little with some Basic Gray cardstock and a sentiment panel that I felt went well with the background. This is probably my favorite card that I made and I kinda wanna hoard instead of sending/ selling it. It would make a nice card for my display board for vendor events!

All in all these cards took me next to no time to make. Just a lot of repetitive cutting out of sentiments and DSP. I still have more I can make, I just needed a break to work on something different and get this blog post out to you.
