New Day to Day Life

Hello Dearest Dreamers!

I hope this post finds you well.

I wanted to take a quick break from sharing cards with you all to give you some good news (at least for me it is). I finally got a new day job!

For those that don’t know (I can’t remember how much I talked about it previously) I lost my previous job right around the pandemic started. I was a temporary employee at the college’s Veteran’s office and the contract ended right as they shut down for the pandemic. Sadly, even once they reopened, they drug their feet on giving me a new contract and I have spent over a year without a day job.

I wish that card making could be my full time job, I haven’t been able to make that leap yet.

But back to the good news! I did an interview at the end of February and finally got a call back about an interview. Within two weeks of submitting my application, I got an interview, and was offered a position! No longer jobless, which is helpful because I wanna keep buying new stamping supplies!

I now work for a Non-profit organization that works with young adults (high schoolers from 10th-12th grade) who are classified as having a physical or mental disability. This ranges from students with ADHD to students with more complex diagnosis (to include physical disabilities).

This is a totally new field of work for me. As in I have no experience in this, but I figured that it can’t hurt to try something new. Previously, I’ve been an Air Traffic Controller, Flight Operations Specialist, Operations Clerk, sales associate, and Administrative Assistant. I’ve worked with Veterans and their spouses, but never children… and never ones with a disability. I have personal experience with young adults with disabilities both within my family and friends group, so I am not completely out of my element I guess.

Wish me luck y’all… I feel like I might need it. I am up for the challenge though!

To celebrate… here is a bathroom selfie during a break in corporate training.
