New Job!

That’s right… who would have thought it… but I started a new job today!

As most of you might know, I am a Veteran and very proud of my service. I also belong to a membership organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families.

For the last 5 or so years, I have been an active member of my post as well as a District officer.

Well, today I took on another position, and one that I am most proud of. Today I started my new job as the Department Quartermaster for the Department of North Carolina!

For those that don’t know, The Veterans of Foreign Wars (or VFW) is an organization that is all about Veterans helping Veterans and their families. We are a membership organization and as the name implies, you must have served in a combat zone or in hostile territory (which is why service in Korea counts). That is what sets us apart from other organizations like the American Legion or DAV.

The Department Quartermaster is in charge of all the Quartermasters in the state (I have 129 post quartermasters and 17 district quartermasters that I am now in charge of). We manage the money for our organizations. I basically just because the treasurer/bookkeeper for a massive organization… not something I ever thought I would be doing.

The Department Commander CHOSE me for this position, which says a lot in his faith in my abilities. This means that I have a big road ahead of me, getting our Department back on the right track.

Now, this doesn’t mean that I am done with my in-person markets. Quite the contrary. Most of my markets don’t start until the Spring, so I have plenty of time to get my feet under me with this new position and prepare for market season. I plan to be very active in the markets this summer/fall and I cannot wait to show you the new stuff that I am bringing your way!

Until next time!
