Buddy Poppy Memorial Cards 2021

Hello Dearest Dreamers!

I hope you’re having a good weekend. I know it’s kind of weird for me to be posting on a Monday, but seeing as how today is Memorial Day, I wanted to share with you some Buddy Poppy cards I made in honor of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and their work towards helping Veterans in need.

The Buddy Poppy Program started in 1922 as a way to help raise money for Veterans in need. For a donation of anyone’s choice, you receive a poppy that was made by a Veteran in the US.

In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you, from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders fields.

Here are a look at 4 cards that I started with last year. I make these to sell at my vendor events and half of the proceeds of each card goes toward the VFW Buddy Poppy Program. I am working on some new designs to share with everyone in the near future.

Today I am going to a Memorial Ceremony at the VFW before we do an installation of our 2021-2022 officers. I will wear a red shirt (can be found on my Instagram) that was custom made by a friend of mine. It bears the slogan “Show me your poppy”. To honor the sacrifices of the ones that ones that we lost.
